Compassion Fatigue

I am conducting independent research on the experience of compassion fatigue in mothers who work as psychotherapists and psychologists. This research will culminate in a book, set to be published in March 2026, that aims to offer deeper insights and support for those navigating this unique intersection of caregiving and professional life.

In this brief talk, Ellie Ramsby explores the emotional and psychological toll of caregiving—whether you are a parent, a helping professional, or both. Compassion fatigue is not a personal failing; it is a human response to sustained emotional labor, particularly in systems that provide little support. This basic introduction presents practical, reflective strategies for resilience, self-compassion, and systemic awareness.
